Our ethos

As Nomads, our way of working is entrenched in the ancient methods of mobility and sustainability.

We are curious and creative entrepreneurs who move between derelict and unused spaces transforming them into temporary fertile lands, working with local traders and start ups.

We believe in up cycling and sustainable businesses and look to give back to the communities that support our projects.

Bally Johal

Bally Johal

Creative Director

An integral part of the development of the Leeds club and bar culture from the mid to late 90’s.

Working closely with some of the biggest operators in Leeds and Sheffield.

Having worked across many sectors, Bally has a natural capacity to create and innovate.

After designing a number of bars during the 1990’s, he went on to work in the digital sector as a growth strategist and focusing on tech developemtn whilst working at Barclaycard.

However his love of retail, the leisure industry and regeneration has seen him turn full circle.

He has played an active role in the regeneration of the Castegate area of Sheffield – where others saw deprivation, he saw opportunity and wanted to create an area that offered something different.

He has expanded his vintage store operation to Birmingham working with partners to deliver a space that seamlessly mixes retail, leisure and events. Bally will also be reopening another Thrifty store in early 2019 – in Digbeth – following the success of his pop up store concepts.

Bally’s real talent lies in making things happen, with a real eye for detail and design.
